Exploration using grasshopper to manipulate surfaces. I found it difficult to replicate surfaces even when using the same settings and was not quite sure why.The most frustrating thing was when I would try and make a change to a parameter and it would take a while or crash.

Using the Bongo plugin
Summer
Fall
Winter
For studio I found and used the Rhinoceros plugin Bongo for sun study animations. In the Gif's are studies of the Jeong H. Kim Engineering building and the AV Williams building on the University of Maryland Campus. For this purpose the plugin was simple to use, although I was restricted because of the power of my personal computer because the School's computers do not have this plugin.
Grasshopper: Surface Manipulation
I tried creating this surface manipulation using only Grasshopper. To create the surface I used the Network Surface script to create a surface from 4 curves (2 in the X direction and 2 in the Y direction). I then used the sphere, bounding box, morph script to fit the geometry to the surface.

A03 Surface Manipulation
After losing the flash drive containing my project file I finally found t and was able to upload.
My two biggest problems with my project would probably be the rendering and my sheet layout. After seeing for an extended period of time, I feel that the layout could look better. Also manipulating the rendering in Photoshop proved to be a little difficult and didn't end up looking as nice as i would have wished. In regards to the form, I would probably create more of a uniform pattern to get the result of light to dark.

A02: Sectioning Project
My final printout for project A02. I thought the project went well, although I did run into a few problems. My main problem was that when assembling the cube the connections were kind of loose. In hindsight I should have made the cuts slightly smaller than the thickness of the chipboard to ensure a tighter fit. I could have also made cuts in both of my horizontal and vertical members as opposed to just cutting in one direction. In regards to my sheet I should have included annotations for my images and depicted how the cube is supposed to me put together with better diagrams.

Laser Cut Update
Progress update in my attempt to manipulate a cube from A01 into a template for the production of a model using the waffle cut technique. I chose an earlier form of my cube to simplify the process for the production.

Rhino: Solid Tools Practice
I spent some time getting used to the solid tools in Rhino. I picked it up pretty quickly so also decided to try and figure out other tools, such as the render options.

Cube Exercise
I used Rhino to create forms using the Boolean Subtraction tool. I then used Adobe Illustrator to modify the line weights for the image.
